Note from the Artist: “The piece shows a hand extending to a young orangutan, with another orangutan looking enviously. This is to represent the inconsistency in the way animals get treated by humans; despite many animals being equally important to care for, some get better treatment than others for (often) arbitrary reasons. An orangutan is also very closely related to the human, and, despite our genetic closeness to the animal, we often destroy the environment of those we share so much with.”
