“Even my Memories are Mad at Me” by Liliana Rodriguez

Artist’s Statement: This piece depicts the pains of growing up. When one gets to a certain age, people begin to expect more from them—an outside pressure which is shown by the physical injuries the person in the image is enduring. However, the toy rabbits and messily drawn stars in the piece imply that this person has not fully left their childhood behind. While this person is torn between their childhood and meeting expectations of adulthood, the hand in the bottom left corner is grasping at the person in the center to display the reluctance these childhood memories have to being forgotten.
