“Stagnant in Simulation” by Hanan Husein

Hanan Husein is a first-gen Iraqi student from Dearborn Heights, Michigan. At the intersection of conflicting identities, their artwork reflects themes of cultural dissonance and pioneering adolescence in the university jungle.

Artist’s Statement: The weighing melancholy of being a college student is a generally shared experience that deserves more light. Stagnant in Simulation illustrates this phenomenon as a clingy phantom that trails as an extension of oneself.
