*LYRICS*

*VERSE*

Graveyard flower

Wish I was bruised

(Like you)

Give me leather

But I’m not crazy

(Like you)

Skin so muted

Tranquilized

(Abused)

Indulge in envy

And starve my pride

(Be used)

*CHORUS*

Blowing black smoke

Into my lungs

Buying back your time

With rum and lime

I’m your girl’s pet

Iced out, roulette

He loves you

All night, you’re tied

In ribbons

*BRIDGE (whispered)*

(Free you)

(You took the omen)

(Your legs are open)

Fox Gibson is a freshman studying the Bachelor of Music in Jazz & Contemporary Improvisation. Though she enjoys jazz, she hopes to pursue the Performing Arts Technology degree later down the line in order to further her recording and production skills for all genres. While her primary instrument is the drumset, she writes original music on guitar and voice during her freetime, and is constantly working to further embrace singing and songwriting.

“Ribbon (acoustic)” is a shortened, acoustic demo of a song I’ve written for my band, who will be working hard over the summer to write and record new music. While the song was initially written with a full alternative metal band in mind, I thought it would be a cool exercise to try recording a shortened version of the track in my dorm room using only acoustic guitar and voice. This was my first experience recording, mixing and mastering a track on my own, so I hope you enjoy it.
