“Handcuffs” by Ace Bell

Artist’s Statement: “"Handcuffs is a poem about the school-to-prison pipeline phenomenon that happens to marginalized communities in America. Growing up, Ace unfortunately witnessed many of his peers become victims of this phenomenon. He wrote this poem from the perspective lens of his peers.”

Ace Bell (he/they) is a Class of 2027 student at U-M majoring in Sociology and Social Work with a minor in Creative Writing. In his free time, he enjoys writing, singing, cooking, painting, and sketching.
