“Chick-Fil-A” by Anna Erdos

Say we have better things to do.

Say it’s too expensive.

Say it’s a waste of gas.

Say it’s unhealthy.

Say it’s not even good.

Say we’re not even that hungry.

Say the business is corrupt.

Say we get in the car and drive, singing

along, gossiping about people we don’t know,

laughing at inside jokes.

Say, Can we go to Chick-fil-A? Say, I miss

you guys. Say that next year, this is what you remember:

us together, using fast food as an excuse to be together.
