“one day i’ll know what a poem is about” by Roma Uzzaman

time and moonlight hang in the air like

moths, flitting about, aimless.

there is a poem in that silence —

a kiss, too, if you’re brave enough for it —

time in the midnight menagerie

like slow-falling in free verse,

like a kiss concealed in summer breezes —

a song to sing in minute-space —

sing to me when i’m aching —

when i’m drowning —

sleep full-stop in the city’s seams

and dream of seeking staying hands.

Roma Uzzaman is an undergrad student studying psychology and creative writing.
