“I’ll Keep Writing for You” by Brooklyn Blevins

Each individual word
rings out with a cacophonous echo.
I have never felt
such a resentment towards your voice.

Against my own wishes,
my face flushes,
pooling with the bitter irony
of our handwritten fairy tale.

A plea
bound by my own pride
provides me with a weight like no other.

Spines unravelling,
backs turned to each other.
You never held onto the pages
quite like I did.

Our ending couldn’t be clearer now.

Brooklyn Blevins a communications major who spends a lot of her free time writing. She likes to center a lot of her works around specific personal experiences in her life, so she can carve out a small piece of herself from these moments and look back on it later.
